No. EPAVANCE is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP), a European regulatory category for products that manage the dietary needs of patients with a medical condition. It is intended to be used under medical supervision, but does not require a prescription.
Take two soft-gel capsules daily with food, unless advised otherwise by your clinician. One pack (60 capsules) is a one-month supply at the standard maintenance dose. Some clinicians advise a higher loading dose in the first month — your HCP will guide you.
EPAVANCE is generally well-tolerated with common IBD therapies including 5-ASAs, immunomodulators and biologics. Always check with your gastroenterologist or GP before starting, particularly if you take anticoagulants.
The triglyceride (rTG) form is the natural molecular form of fish oil. Research shows it is more bioavailable than the ethyl ester form used in most supplements — especially relevant for people with inflamed or compromised gut absorption.
